Try to picture royal children sitting still for their painted portrait because I literally can not. I don’t envy any part of that situation. Fortunately for us today is the glorious invention of digital cameras allowing session for fine art photography portraits of children to go much faster and far more fun. It’s a win-win for everyone! Stunning, personal, and unique pieces of art created WHILE the kiddos are enjoy their time being photographed!
An example of just how easy this is to do is my most recent session with my two boys. Mind you, their mom is a photographer and they get their photos take A LOT! Does taking their photos often make it easier on me?
NOPE!
It probably makes it worse! They hate posing for photos and tend to break out some really crazy faces. I love them and it’s cute, but sometimes I just want to see their beautiful natural smiles in their portraits. I’m sure in the age of an abundance of cell phone photos and super cute kids, many of you can relate.
We usually need to spice things up with activities I know they LOVE! Our most recent was the series “Gone Fishing.” I found some adorable overalls and made fishing poles from shrub trimmings and nylon rope. We went over to Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville, MO, just a short drive from St Louis.
The boys got to go barefoot and hold onto sticks while just splashing around in the water. They loved it so much! They didn’t want to leave and I was free to snap away, move lights, change lenses, whatever needed to be done while they smiled and laughed. We didn’t escape ALL the silly faces, but we sure did get a lot of cute ones.
These fine art portraits sincerely melt my heart. I honestly can’t decide which to print, so I’m ordering a nice album to have them all in physical print and then two or three wall prints. I can’t wait until they all arrive and I can put them up in my home. I’m a bit torn on in the living room or in a bathroom, but I have a little time to figure it out.
I would love your opinion, feel free to comment where I should put these in my home.
Of if you are looking for your own children featured in fine art portraits around your home, please contact me. I would love to hear from you and create art with your family!
With Love
