As you’re deciding who to choose for your wedding photographer, you’ll find that many include packages with a second photographer. Well, what does that mean and do you really need a second photographer? A second photographer is just as it sounds. Your lead photographer has hired a second very talented individual to work with them on your wedding day. Here are reasons you may want to include one on your wedding day.
A second photographer will give you more time to enjoy your day. Instead of one photographer running back and forth to get various angles or to adjust a wedding gown with each movement, a second person can take these shots and do the touch ups. It takes time to set up each shot, correct the light, make wardrobe adjustment, move to different angles, etc. A second photographer is great reducing the time needed to do all these things, so you can get your photos done in a timely manner and get back to having fun.
It’s no question that we love seeing our friends and family enjoying the day we put so much work into. Often couples are pulled around on wedding to where they needed next and don’t always get to spend as much time with friends as they would like. It’s a wonderful feeling to see all the incredible people that came to celebrate you. Even though you couldn’t spend as much time with them as you would have liked, you can see they still had an amazing time.
Those once in a lifetime moments like the first kiss and first look will have different angles. It allows you to get both yours and your partners facial expressions when you see each for the first time or the first kiss and your guests facial expressions. You could have portraits that capture a close up of your expressions and a wide angle that shows the stunning venue you chose.
Maybe you want all the details or your reception hall but know there won’t be much time for one photographer to get there between finishing portraits and the guests arriving. Maybe you want images of pre-ceremony shenanigans, but you and your partner are getting ready at two different locations. When there is a second photographer, these are non-issues. The lead photographer can be in one place while the second photographer is another. This goes back to number one and helps save more time.
You will have a back up for so many scenarios. If both photographers are capturing the important, one-time moments, like a first kiss, there will be multiple cameras taking a photo. No need to worry about loosing a moment because a camera failed or a battery died. You also have a photographer scheduled if the lead has an emergency or becomes ill. There’s no last minute scrambling to find a new photographer when your already stressed because you had booked two. The second photographer will become the lead and will look for a new second photographer to accompany them. Worse case scenario is they can’t find a new second in such a short time frame and you still have a photographer at your wedding and probably a refund for the cost of the added second photographer.
Whether or not you choose to have a second photographer, come down to whether it is important for you or not to have one at your wedding. Of the add-ons often available, I do believe this is one of the most important that help you to get the most value from your investment. So much of what they do captures the authenticity of your day assist in utilizing your time to the fullest, so you are able to fully enjoy your day.
