It can be very difficult to decide between an intimate first look and a more traditional first look. To help you decide what might be best for you, below is are the benefits of each.
More couples seem to be moving towards a first look prior to their ceremony. What are the benefits of breaking from this tradition?
An early first look allows for the majority of wedding photos to be done early, so you can spend more time with your guests after the ceremony.
They also give you a chance to have a very intimate moment together. Most of the day will be spent with friends and family and alone time will be rare throughout the day. It’s a nice way to celebrate alone with each other moments before your “I do.”
The downside to the early first look is that it doesn’t have as much of the dramatic suspense as the traditional look. The partner waiting for the first look isn’t waiting as long to see the other and therefore the anticipation isn’t as long.
The traditional look walking down the aisle is a beautiful option. The guests and your fiancé are waiting in suspense for you to arrive and typically creates some big reactions.
Doing the look this way, also gives the entire wedding party more time to get ready before the ceremony. However, I do recommend doing portraits of each of you and your significant other and your wedding party members before the ceremony. This will help to save time between the ceremony and reception for full wedding party, couple, and family portraits and give you more time with guests.
Personally, I love to see my hubby all dressed up and would have liked a reveal of him to me and me to him, like a reality show blind date. I’m waiting for that to become a thing. Regardless of how you choose to awe your significant other, I promise it will be perfect.
With Love
